Gurus Need Not Apply 

The first thing you should know about me is that I am not a "guru". I am not speaking from a position of massive success in network marketing. I believe that's a good thing for you, the reader.

I have seen and heard too much hype about network marketing. I've seen new marketing techniques promising to revolutionize the industry. Every one of them is being promoted by someone who, according to them, had massive success.

The claim of most gurus is that they went from zero to hero rapidly after finally discovering their unique twist on the industry. They are no longer in the traditional MLM industry. They are now in the training and coaching industry.

Wisdom From Broad Experience

My direct experience with network marketing goes back over thirty years. I was an insider, working in the IT department of one of the most prestigious network marketing companies in existence. In some stories that company was instrumental in creating the multi-level marketing industry.

Although I was not a "network marketer", I saw the industry in a more up close and personal way than the vast majority of network marketers. Working directly with customer service agents and managers inside the company I had a unique view of how the industry really worked.

I was an information technology professional for over thirty years. Working in a variety of industries, from high tech to banking, retailing to heavy manufacturing, commodities to hospital management, I learned a lot about business from a unique perspective. Sitting here now, and looking back I realize what a rich experience it was. I can see how that diversity of experience helped shape me and prepare me to study the network marketing industry.

It is the perspective I have gained from broad business experience that I am able to share with you. This unique perspective on network marketing may be just what you need to save yourself thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of valuable time in this industry.

One Essential Quality Of a Solid MLM

By the way, I am currently associated with one and only one "network marketing" company. That is because it meets the key criteria I have for a valid network marketing company.

As you will learn in future posts, for me there is one overriding quality of a valid network marketing company. The product or service the company sells must stand on its own. In other words . . .

The product or service must be something that provides more in use value than the customer pays for it. This is the essence of any legitimate business, MLM or otherwise.

This is contrary to what a lot of today's gurus will tell you. Many will say the product is irrelevant. Others will say nothing about the product or service at all. You are obviously here to learn from a broader perspective than you will get from most gurus.
